More sprouts

Roma tomatoes, chives, and oregano made an appearance after last night’s watering and all night light bath. I’m not sure if I’m doing it exactly right…but the seedlings look good so far. Just waiting for Parsley and Rosemary to make an appearance. Not expecting the peppers, I planted them before reading they should be started later on.

Broccoli and Beefsteak and Thyme, oh my!

It seems a little early for so many sprouts, but there are at least 10 broccoli, a beefsteak tomato and 8 or so thyme coming up now. Just since yesterday morning when I saw the 2 broccoli! Crazy! I’ll definitely get pictures today.

Sprouts

We have 2 broccoli sprouts this morning :D I’ll take pictures of my babies in a bit and post them.

Layout

If anyone can see anything wrong with this (other then my misspelling of zucchini) let me know.
I borrowed a layout from tastefulgarden.com to make this. The main square will be about 20′x20′ with another 20′ (or as much as needed) where the corn and taters will be.

Woo – Gardening!

I hate weeding but I so love growing my own food, so I’m gonna do my best to see this project to completion and grow us a garden.

Today I bought (and much of these are more for trying out the growing process then trying out the food):
Seeds:

  • Pumpkins (2 kinds)
  • Snap beans
  • Zuccini
  • Lettuce
  • Orange watermelon (cool?!)
  • Snow peas
  • Corn (2 kinds)
  • Beets
  • Watermelon
  • Tomatoes (2 kinds)
  • White onions
  • Green peppers
  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower

Herbs:

  • Basil
  • Rosemary
  • Parsley
  • Thyme
  • Oregano
  • Chives

Some of these probably would have been better to get as starts, particularly the herbs and tomatos, but we’ll see. I hope to be in the house and have this garden for years so I gotta learn somehow since dad can’t teach me anymore. I did grow great tomatoes and onions on Pendleton against all odds, so there is hope.

I’m working on a garden layout and a supply list now, trying to keep costs as minimal as possible while providing a user friendly space because I will be short on time and needing the kids to help too!

I just realized I got no carrots! Dammit. I’ll pick those up too!
