About Me

My name is Amy, I am a 31 year old single mom of 4 kids, ages 15, 13, 6 and 4. I make money by sitting on my butt all week at home, designing and building websites for small businesses. I’m also a full time student, attending Chemeketa Community College here in Salem, Oregon.

I also like to garden – I’m guessing you knew that since this about me page is on my GARDEN BLOG. And digital scrapbooking – even though I have not done one page since my last was born 4 years ago. I love photography. I want to be a professional. I need training and a good camera for that, so I pretend for now. I enjoy cooking, when it’s not 500 degrees already in my kitchen (without central a/c, that means I don’t cook much in the summer). One of my most favorite things that I don’t get to do with everything else going on is getting outdoors. I love the beach and forests and rivers and waterfalls. I like to hike, and camp – at least when the kids are at ages that it’s not dangerous if my attention is on something else for a moment!

My Zone: It seems the government assigned this area zone 8, so I go by that when chatting online, but Sunset has a better system, so I use it as well. In their Western Garden book, I’m in zone 6.

Since my site is coming up better on the search results, I wanted to make sure anyone wondering knows I’m not trying to infringe on any copyrights.  As I stated in a May 2008 post:

There’s a little place on I15 going between Idaho Falls and Pocatello with this big beautiful garden and a sign: Garden of Eatin’. I just remembered that I always wanted that sign on my garden (it’s been over a year since we moved from Idaho) so I figured my garden blog name is the next best thing.
